And they’re off! The 2013 Creative Time Global Residency recipients start traveling this month. Artists Theaster Gates, Andrea Geyer, Suzanne Lacy, Naeem Mohaiemen, Lisi Raskin, Duke Riley, and Mika Tajima will embark on travels to locations across the globe, conducting investigations intended to push the boundaries of their practice. In so doing, they will actively engage with communities ranging from artists and missionaries in central Australia, to seamstresses in Haiti, women activists in Columbia, mariners in Cape Verde, and more.
Creative Timeʼs Global Residency Program, initiated in 2010, was designed to enable artists to step off the treadmill of exhibition making and into the world to explore a burning question that cannot be fully pursued in the studio.
